Soggy

Well, it has stopped raining for this 15 minute period. I'm wondering when the Delaware will reach flood stage. It's supposed to rain for the next week, and the water already looks pretty threatening. My back yard is a swamp, my front yard is a wilderness of tall grass, and everything in between has a layer of dampness and mud.

On the bright side, I have no compelling reason to be outside in the icky weather.

Icky weather. That reminds me...This week I sent out an e-mail about "When a soldier comes home". My big brother told me it reminded him of when our oldest brother returned home from Vietnam and someone spit on his uniform. I'm still trying to process that little tidbit of information. I haven't really heard many stories about when the oldest brother was in the Army. Long ago, in a strange time, when I was but a wee one. I'm proud of my brother and his service, even though we don't really discuss it. It's just strange to be so separate in age from my brothers that I seem to know so little about them really.

Yeah, I definately can't comprehend that since Wendy, Del and I are so close in age. I don't even know what to say about all that rain! I love it and all, but I can't imagine all that.

I remember when I found out that Uncle David had been a "real soldier". I wanted to know so much about it, but I was encouraged not to bring it up. I guess those were hard times and everyone just wanted to protect him. I never knew that about the spitting, it makes me so sad. He's a good man.

Sorry about the rain...we just got back from the pool. Sorry!

I can't believe you brought up the blankie - it was not a rag!! I also most definitely do NOT have it hidden in a drawer in my closet.

And I'm already mad at you guys because you get to go hang at the beach. Fun!
