Tralalalala

I'm trying to get into the holiday spirit. I really am. It's not happening. Perhaps it's an H1N1 flu hangover. Had that, and I'm convinced there has to be an easier way to die.
So, we're discussing not getting a Christmas tree this year. Ordinarily I'm a huge fan of hacking down a tree that's way to large for my house and struggling to get it into the house, straight on the stand, safe from the dogs and appropriately decorated. I'm just not into it this year.
Maybe I need snow. I did put out the Chrismas "Believe" flag. Small steps.
I'm not under any pressure to buy gifts for anyone this year, and we went to the mall on Black Friday just to watch the people. Now THAT was a good time. We saw no less than 4 family fights and were nearly plowed down in the parking lot by no less than 5 crazed, eyes glazed, minivan drivers. Nothing says Christmas like homicide caused by insane commercialism.
We tried to volunteer for the soup kitchen- they're already booked and have no need. Sigh.
Maybe tonight I'll dress the dogs up like Mary and Joseph and see if that helps me get more in the mood.
Anyone got any other suggestions?

I can't believe you got denied for the soup kitchen - bizarre. Go get a baby tree at least - Maybe it will put you in the spirit!

I hate you didn't get some pics of the fights on black Friday... :(

I feel the same way. Just blah about it. Good thing that it all doesn't depend on my feelings. We might be celebrating in June.

Just do what you can and what you want and let all the other stuff just roll off or happen without you. Can you believe I just said that?

Okay - I can't believe Wendy said that!! But it's a good thought. Just remember the good part - Christ came! And He came for you! Any day is a good day to celebrate that!
Mark your calendar on some random day to volunteer when everyone else in the world isn't doing their one good deed for the year just so they can look good. Then you'll get in the thankful Christmas spirit when everyone else is over it! Fun!
P.S. - I'm back, but private. I'm going to try to send an e-mail for you to get to my blog. If you don't get it send me one.
